Sally Hansen Love Letter

The last post that I did was about Cult Nails Let Them Fly. An absolutely beautiful one-coater with plenty of personality and presence on it's own. This color I loved so much that I left it on until the edges started to wear and finally the first few nails started to chip. This happened only because I have been doing way too many projects and housework without gloves. So in order to continue to enjoy this color I decided to add the Sally Hansen's Salon Effects in Love Letter to the middle of the nail. This particular Salon Effects was intended for my wedding anniversary, but I forgot the plan and opted for something else. I liked this pattern because of the cursive writing which looked like and old manuscript. They were much easier to apply on top of existing polish then the naked nail. I think next time I use them I will apply a base coat. Thoughts? Feelings? Concerns?

Cult Nails Let Me Fly

I can't say enough about Cult Nails nail polish. I don't know if I'm biased because I have met the founder Maria and find her to be so warm, humble and creative, or if it's just the polish itself with it's wonderful formula. I'm sure it's a combination of all those things in addition to the fact that the colors are unique enough to make you feel like "Ii have to have this". Today's post is Let Me Fly, a color I got during the $5 sale a few weeks ago. I have had this color on my "Would Like to Have" list for some time and I'm even more pleased with it in person. First I have to say that this can truly be an EVEN 1 coater. I can say that for very few polishes, opaques included. So here is 1 coat of Let Me Fly:

I would describe this as a dusty periwinkle/teal with a silver shimmer.

Because I was enjoying the application so much I added another coat. Here is 2 coats

Cult Nails Feelin' Froggy and Hypnotize Me

Okay so back to the Cult Nails Fairytale Collection that I started swatching last week. Here is Feelin' Froggy. First I would like to say that I'm not a fan of these types of green. I don't feel like I wear them well. I gravitate more towards the earth tones, or bold colors with depth, and rarely wear a flat color. This green is not flat though and that's why I like it. Once again there is the slightest shimmer that gives this color the depth I like and even movement (in my opinion). I used 3 coats because I wanted max opacity and I also loved how it applied. Like almost melted butter, but what else can you expect from Cult Nails? Then I wanted to try Hypnotize Me which I also got from the $5 sale. I should have made a jelly sandwich, or used Hypnotize me over Feelin' Froggy but I wanted to see them side my side on their own. Here they are:

Lighting makes all the difference in the world and I'm still playing with mine to capture all the elements of the polish I like the most. In the pic above you can see the shimmer really well, and the shine factor. Thoughts? Feelings? Concerns?

Cult Nails Crusin Nude and Candeo Old City

A few weeks ago Cult Nails had a $5 sale which I had to take advantage of. I bought Crusin Nude, Let me Fly, and Hypnotize Me. I was so excited to get these, as they were all on my Wish List. Maria brought them to me at during our Bloggers Meet so I didn't have to wait for them to be shipped! :) I have to say that this color is one of my top favorite nudes. It's not easy making nude polishes without excluding a large group of people. This polish although not dark enough for some women of color is so neutral in base with the slightest pink shimmer that anyone can rock it! Here she is:

Unfortunately my camera didn't want to capture the slight pink shimmer, but I promise it's there. Just a hint though and it doesn't over power the nude. It's a perfect pairing.

Of course I couldn't leave it alone so I added Candeo Old City. I love this glitter and was so fortunate to get it during our swap from Kim at College Polished. Here is the gradient I created:

Gradient glitter is such a quick and easy way to spice up a very simple color. I love this look. So classy and clean with a hint of bling. Thoughts? Feelings? Concerns?

Cult Nails Evil Queen has a Happy Ending

The title of this post is so funny that I actually laughed out loud! So what does this title mean you might ask? This means that yours truly who was fortunate enough to go to the Beauty Bloggers of Central Florida Meet was able to get the ENTIRE new collection of Cult Nails!!!! Yes this new collection is the Fairytale collection and will be open for pre-order for Memorial Day weekend at www.cultnails.com and Maria was gracious enough to bring us each the new line. For now you can enjoy some of the lovelies right here. This collection was extremely well thought of, extremely balanced in nature, and versatile. It includes: Evil Queen, Feelin' Froggy, Princess, Charming and Happy Ending. The first one that I tried was Evil Queen and all I can say is Va-va Voom!! This is hands down, by far, my favorite classic red of all time. That is a big claim to make, but once you get your hands on it you will know what I mean. As a fellow blogger described it: It goes on like butter. The coverage is just enough in 2 coats, and could have even been 1 coat. Here she is:

The formula on this red is superb and goes on effortlessly. I would have left it alone but I wanted her to have a Happy Ending.

Here is Evil Queen with Happy Ending. This glitter is a multicolored shredded glitter with varied shapes. At first I was nervous about application on this one and as soon as I applied it I was pleasantly surprised at how nicely the glitter spread apart. I only needed 1 coat of top coat to seal the deal and 99% of all the glitter laid perfectly flat. Normally I have to maneuver the glitter into even placement but not the case for this Happy Ending. The name is so appropriate
