Loreal Gradient

Loreal Gradient, Your Nail Polish Therapist has been hauling polishes for weeks now but had no time to blog. Work, school and volunteering have be so busy, I have no energy to sit in front of a computer more than I already have to with work and school. So until my school load slows down I've decided to blog once a month and do about 3-4 posts. I appreciate all of you following me and hope you've enjoyed my posts thus far.
This post features my first gradient. No I'm not on the cutting edge and there have been many gradients done but this girl didn't have the right sponge and wanted to make sure it was great before posting. So for this manicure I used Loreal The Queen's Ambition and Sparklicous. These are two beautiful glitters that compliment each other well. For the base of the nail I used Essie True Love. Walgreens was having a sale on Loreal a few weeks ago so I picked up a few beauties. I have to say that I'm impressed with the formula on both of these and the amount of even coverage it provided.

Thoughts? Feelings? Concerns?

Aphrodite Lacquer

Aphrodite Lacquer, Lately there are few over the counter polishes that get me excited. OPI seems to recycle the same metallic red, blues and purples all year round with a few gems here and there. China Glaze's formula is becoming suspect and Butter London with all their fanciness is getting too expensive for me. Don't get me wrong there are lines like Loreal that have been pretty impressive lately and I appreciate Maybelline's attempt at trying to put out some glitter bombs, but I wanted to support more Indie labels.
So I picked up Aphrodite Lacquer's "Don't Copy Me" because I only had 1 other black and white glitter. Such a simple black and white glitter in a milky pearly base I had to have it! I layered it over Loreal "Tea and Crumpets". I was not so impressed with either formula to be honest. Loreal's Tea and Crumpets was streaky and Aphrodite's Lacquer was hard to apply evenly with the squares being so elusive. I left the bottle upside down and shook it before each application but I could barely get the squares out. Even with all the trouble I still like out how it turned out. I think next time I will use the Aphrodite Lacquer on it's own. Maybe with a little bit of thinner and a balister ball it will mix better.

Loreal Downtown Chic and The Temptress Power

Loreal Downtown Chic and The Temptress Power, While walking with my husband and our dogs to the local Walgreens to get a Redbox, I was lucky enough to catch a great sale on Loreal polishes. I think at the time it was a BOGO or a buy one get one free and I went to town. I got Downtown Chic and The Temptress' Power among many others I hauled that night.
Downtown Chic is a creme chocolate brown. Great formula and easily covered in 2 coats. I added The Temptress' Power thinking it was going to be a very subtle accept to the brown but it changed the look of Downtown Chic completely. I should have taken a video of this because this combination looked like oil slick to me.
The Temptress' Power is a caramel based thin polish with emerald green shimmer that almost has a holo look. It can be considered a "topper" to enhance any other color but on it's own just as pretty. The green was prominent on the brown Downtown Chic so it didn't have the subtle effect I wanted but it was cool nonetheless so I left it on for a few days.

Nail Polish For my Baby

Nail Polish For my Baby , As I mentioned before I'm 6 months pregnant and I'm having a baby boy! His name will be Sterling which means "excellent" and I couldn't be more happy! This design was inspired by my pregnancy. I did this design so long ago that I can't remember the shade of blue that used. lol! Talk about pregnancy brain! So I used Pure Ice Nude Beach and Loreal Shear Sparkle along with Loreal Now You See Me. I liked how this came out and I will try it again with another color combination. Thoughts? Feelings? Concerns?

Nail Polish Loreal Get Money, I was feeling really daring since I wore that bright pink the other day so I went into my stash of oh so many untried polishes and found this beautiful creamy bright green. Initially I was going to do some nail art but decided against it because I couldn't commit to anything that wouldn't look really loud and busy.

This color applied streaky at first and with the second coat was beautiful in full opacity. It might have been because the polish was a bit old. I used 3 coats just because it's how I protect my nails while they are short and growing out.
