Revlon Moon Candy

Revlon Moon Candy

Revlon Moon Candy, It's been a long time...but I'm here! Still swatching, still buying lots of pretty polish. The next few posts are going to lead up to the long awaited Zoya Gilty 18K Gold topcoat, which has finally arrived. Recently I have had the blessing of running into a few great sales at Target and Walgreens. At Target they had a sale on Loreal Nude shades which I love and also some of the Revlon Duo Nail Art. I have seen the nail art before and there was only one that I would consider purchasing because of the color combination: two ugly colors that together look cool. I didn't think it was worth over $8 so I waited and while shopping at Target one day I found the one I wanted. Here it is: Revlon Moon Candy

The colors are named #1 (below and above) and the formula on #1 is not great. I did a thick second coat to cover lots of balding. It was very streaky on the first coat. I love the color though and for $3.42 I'm not complaining.

This is color #2 which spread very nicely. I was impressed.

Nail Polish Vintage yet Modern

Nail Polish Vintage yet Modern

Nail Polish Vintage yet Modern , This year my husband and I decorated the house in lights, and put up some fuss in the house in the way of decorations. Unfortunately we didn't get to partake in so many Christmas parties as we'd hoped. Our neighbors invited us over for a viewing in their backyard of It's a Wonderful Life. It was our first time going there for a social event and I wanted to make a good impression. So I set out to make a vintage yet modern Christmas tree art. I used Julep: Glen for most of the nails and then Cynthia Crowley for the accent nails. Both of these colors are absolutely glorious. The formula was great and dried super fast. My only complaint was that the Cynthia Crowley (green color with no name) was HORRIBLE to take off. Stained my nails something awful. The other colors I used on the tree and snow were: American Apparel Galaxy, OPI Golden Eye, Milani Black Sketch, Revlon Calla Lily. The shape of the tree was modern to me and the overall look with the OPI Golden Eye added a vintage touch. What are your thoughts? Feelings? Concerns?

Revlon Zealous and Heavenly

Revlon Zealous and Heavenly

Revlon Zealous and Heavenly, I said I was not going to purchase any more drugstore brands unless they were on sale. Well Walmart always has the lowest prices so I guess that would constitute a sale lol. Here is Revlon Zealous with Heavenly. Zealous is a very light lime green barely yellow with rainbow shimmer. It's so bright but not obnoxiously so and I needed it with the recent gloomy weather. This is 3 coats because the formula was on the thin side. Heavenly is a clear base with glass rainbow dots (if that even makes sense lol). This color can go on just about anything and look great. The formula was consistent with Revlon and easy to apply.

Sation, Revlon and OPI come together

Some of you are also following my FB page NailPolishTherapy and saw that I posted a picture of the new Revlon color Sparkle Aplenty recently displayed at Walgreens. I was so excited to finally get it after stalking 4 different drugstores :). Yes I did stalk the stores and at the fifth Walgreens by my job I finally snagged the beauty! So needless to say I was over the moon. Revlon Sparkles Aplenty is a black jelly based with silver hexes and silver glitter. The jelly base is slightly more opaque than your average jelly but can still be worn as a jelly. With two coats it gives perfect coverage and while casting a wonderful layering effect. Te hexes look like they're suspended in some parts and laying on each other in other parts. So here is Revlon Sparkle Aplenty beside Sation Black.

I have to say that Sation Black is the shiniest, creamiest, jet black I've ever tried and for sure a 1 coater. I've heard that Cult Nails Nevermore is a great black but I haven't tried it. This Sation Black cost me $3 at my local nail supply store so I can live with that.

After having the Sation Black on for 1 day I decided to try the bagging technique that I saw on this post from NiftyBa. It looked easy enough and I liked that it wasn't messy or time consuming. I'm all about using everyday items to make quick and unique effects on your nails. I added OPI Lucerne-Tainly Look Marvelous and this is what I got:

Below is a closeup of my thumb with natural light. I don't know if it's the combination of colors I used but this was hard to photograph, hence the reason I only have 2 photos to share. The others were so pix-elated and didn't show the difference in the two colors well. I will be doing this again since it was so easy to do and I have plenty of plastic bags I can put to use. I like the effect. Thoughts? Feelings? Concerns?

April is Autism Awareness Month - Wear Blue!!

Some of you already know that April is the month of Autism Awareness and to honor those who live with Autism nail polish bloggers are wearing blue. I wanted to keep in the theme of Spring and so I did this simple mani with colors I haven't used yet. Since I have over 400 polishes now :).

The pointer nails are Julep-Blake with Revlon-Whimsical on top. The rest of the nails are Milani-Beachfront. My camera doesn't do justice to the Milani-Beachfront. It has a fine silver shimmer that is even spread through all the polish. I was impressed with the formula of Julep-Blake, but the color itself was nothing that wow'd me. I'm glad that I didn't purchase this. Thoughts? Feelings? Concerns?

Easter Mani

I didn't do anything special on Easter except go out to eat after work. We had all you can eat crabs at Cityfish in downtown Orlando. The night before I stayed up late coming up with an Easter mani and pedi combo. Sorry to say that  I didn't take pics of my toes but here is my simple rendition of a spring French Manicure.

I used the colors below, which came out so crappy in the picture. I seriously need a new camera.

Revlon Sunshine Sparkle, Essie Mint Candy Apple, Milani White on the Spot, Color Club with no color label :(, Essie Lilacism, Revlon Blue Lagoon.

Another quick way I like to spice up my mani is by putting complimentary colors together. In the same way I did in the Modern Gold Diggers mani. Thoughts? Feelings? Concerns?

Crackin' Up

When crackle first came out I was intrigued but not sure if I like the deconstructed look. Then I started seeing all kinds of combos and decided to try some for myself. As with most new nail polish fads I chose to experiment with the ring finger or thumb as an accent. I have many more manis to come with crackle since I saw how cool they can look in triangles and other fun shapes. I called this Crackin' Up as a pun on the crackle effect. Thoughts? Feelings? Concerns?
