Zoya 18K Gold Gilty

Zoya 18K Gold Gilty

Zoya 18K Gold Gilty , FINALLY!! It's here and I couldn't be more excited to share this review with you. I pre-ordered the Zoya 18K gold topcoat Gilty back in September. I waited patiently and the box arrived this past Saturday none too soon. So let me first say that although I like love Zoya products, I chose to buy this gold topcoat because of the care that Zoya took in presentation. They also had people hand pouring the gold into the bottles. Included with the 18K topcoat were Zoya Purity and  Raven. All three in the black box for $30!? Can't beat it. So I decided that I would go with Zoya over Sephora and OPI's gold topcoat. Instead of putting it over the entire nail I decided on a gradient. I got SO excited that I even hooked up my toes with some gold too!

I can only say one thing negative about this set and that is with the color Purity (white). The formula became thick pretty quickly during application. It might have just been my bottle. Raven however was beautiful. You can't see it in the picture but it has the slightest hint of silver shimmer, so faint, it's just there for effect. I call it a Tuxedo black because it's so formal.

Nail Polish Zoya Yasmeen

Nail Polish Zoya Yasmeen

Nail Polish Zoya Yasmeen, Many of you know that I have no set schedule for blogging but I try and post at few entries at a time to make up for absence. I'm also employed full time and pursuing my Masters so as much as I would like to blog more I can't. I also think I'm going to start to make my posts shorter and to the point. So in the effort of brevity I will still to the point and not bore you with my exploits and nail polish hauls. If you have any questions about the polish I've used that I didn't address in the post, please feel free to comment or email me. Without further adieu: here is Zoya Yasmeen.

This was on my wishlist for some time and I was glad to finally get it. Its a gorgeous deep purple/plum color with the slightest gold microshimmer. Easily went on in 2 coats for full opacity and and excellent formula.

Zoya Cho and Whimsie Once Upon A Time

Zoya Cho and Whimsie Once Upon A Time

Zoya Cho and Whimsie Once Upon A Time, This year my goal is to acquire more Indie polishes. If I purchase anything from the drugstore it will be on sale and if I go to the nail supply store it will only be for the latest OPI line. So here is the first of many Whimsies that I'm going to be featuring. Whimsical Ideas by Pam is an indie line that I have seen for awhile and finally decided to support based on the sheer creativity of every single polish. The creator Pam takes so much time and effort to create polishes that are "whimsical", beautiful and unique. This is Once Upon a Time which is a clear base with lilac and lime green hexes and purple micro glitter. It was a little thick but not difficult to spread. I used a dabbing mechanism as I do with other glitters and had no problem with application. Underneath I used Zoya Cho which is a doughy nude color that easily covered to opacity in 2 coats.

Zoya Stacy and Bonita Gold Glitter

Zoya Stacy and Bonita Gold Glitter

Zoya Stacy and Bonita Gold Glitter,This is a color that I loved so much I bought it twice without knowing! I normally wait until Ulta has Zoyas on sale to purchase them. I can't stand waiting for polish in the mail, I get too much anxiety lol and I don't like paying for shipping. So Zoya Stacy is a color that I have seen swatched a few times and seeing it in pictures I kept thinking "this color looks very inconsistent". So I finally swatched it and added a little bling with Bonita Gold Glitter on ring finger. Here she is:

Look at the huge difference without flash (below) and full sun (above). Talk about two different colors! The application was difficult in the sense that it was not consistent enough. The consistency of the polish is too thin and should be thicker for smoother application. On my pinky you can see slight balding. Overall I would give Stacy a "B" because of the formula.

Middle finger and pinky showing some baldness :(

Almost broke my pinky nail before this shot, but thank God for gel resin!

Nail Polish My Ten Friends First Contact

Nail Polish My Ten Friends First Contact

Nail Polish My Ten Friends First Contact, Recently My Ten Friends released their Valentines Day collection and as always Mei-Lynn didn't disappoint. I purchased First Contact, Lunar Love Song and Close Encounters. The first review is of First Contact. I applied First contact over one thin coat of Zoya Cho because I didn't want a layered look to this polish, I wanted all the glitter to stand on its own. First Contact is easily opaque in 2 coats. To use the exact
description MTF gave this polish: "First Contact" is a beige nude polish that has black,
silver and holo glitters in various sizes. Inspired by imagining French lingerie in outer
space. Super sexy and sparkly! This polish is so feminine, simple yet not boring or understated. Thoughts? Feelings? Concerns?

Nail Polish Sparitual Kindness

Nail Polish Sparitual Kindness

Nail Polish Sparitual Kindness , Another hiatus from yours truly. This time for good reason. I haven't made an official announcement on my blog but I am 6 months pregnant with our first child! A boy :) ! So I'm very excited and often times very tired. My focus has changed and I spend more time shopping for baby things than I do for nail polish. Most recently though I have taken advantage of a couple blog sales and some drug store sales. So I hope to be able to blog more regularly and not be gone so long, but you can never tell with pregnancy and motherhood.

A few weeks ago my cousin from London brought me a bunch of Sparitual polishes which are vegan and known for their creativity. She loves them and as a professional nail technician swears by them. This is Kindness with tape design using Zoya Ziv. The formula was kind of thick on this polish and unfortunately it started to chip within 1-2 days on my thumb and pointer. The color is so gorgeous I think I'll add polish thinner, and just try a different base and topcoat next time. I apologize in advanced for the lack of photos. It was a miracle I remembered to take pics of my nails in the last 3 months. Thoughts? Feelings? Concerns?

Nail Polish Red White and Blue

Nail Polish Red White and Blue

Nail Polish Red White and Blue, During the holiday weekend I didn't do much but polish my nails and toes different combinations of red white and blue. I'll be posting my patriotic pedicure in the next post...Unfortunately this year I didn't get to partake in our local fireworks like I normally do because my little one was not feeling too festive. At least my nails were in the spirit! What were you wearing for the 4th?

Here is OPI Mariah Carey Pure, Milani White on the Spot, Butter London Pillar Box Red, Anise Hello Sailor, and Zoya Gilty.

I like the combination of the white and yellow gold together. ZOYA's gold has a lot more presence while OPI is more subtle.

Zoya Maisie and Sation Oh My Oceania

Still working on that Summer drawer, and almost ready to skip on to the Autumn drawer, I found this beauty in the back of the drawer. I forgot I had it lol! It's Sation Oh My Oceania and its a lighter version of Sation Miss McTeal. Oh My Oceania is much more creamy in consistency. It was easily  1 coater, but I was enjoying it so much I decided to do 2 coats. Then I added Zoya Maisie on top. I loved this blue-green, glassy flecks looking glitter. The glitter lays flat and looks like it's in shreds, but adds just slight bit of dimension to an otherwise flat creme. I like how subtle Zoya Maisie was because I didn't want it to compete with Sation Oh My Oceania. Thoughts? Feelings? Concerns?

Red Black and White

On August 11th my uncle threw my aunt a surprise 50th birthday party. It was a true surprise since her birthday is not until September! The theme was the Roaring 20's. I have no idea how women wore their nails in the 20's but I knew I wanted to mirror mine after the gangster suit my husband was wearing. So I added a half moon mani with white strips. Using the existing Zoya Nidhi, and Miliani White on the Spot and Black Swift. I wish I would have done it sooner because I could clean my cuticles and I did have some new growth, so it's not as perfect as I'd like, but it worked. Unfortunately I only got one picture :( . Thoughts? Feelings? Concerns?

Zoya Nidhi

It's been a while but I'm back from my little vacation and ready to bring you ladies some more NPT :). Hopefully you like the new look. I figured the blog needed a little updating. I was fortunate enough to work with a wonderful graphic designer from over the pond Daniel Frampton who was so patient, accommodating and creative. I'm over the moon with the results and hopefully you like it too.

On to the post! A few weeks ago I was in the mood for a red that was not flat, that had coverage and shimmer (my favorite effect). I chose this gorgeous Zoya beauty Nidhi. This color is unique in formula because depending on how you apply it, it can work as a jelly sandwich or alone. I opted for a solitary look because of the manicure I had planned for the following week. As always Zoya doesn't disappoint and this formula was easy and consistent to apply. Nidhi is a firey red with gold shimmer throughout. This color can be used all year round, but I put it in my Summer drawer of colors of my helmer. So here she is...Thoughts? Feelings? Concerns?

Nicole Kim-parison

I wore this manicure last week and forgot to post it because honestly I wasn't too thrilled with it. I picked up Nicole Kim-parison from Ulta for $3.99 because I didn't have an off white color and was looking to do a light manicure as a change from my bold color schemes. This color was ok to apply, a little on the thick side, but it could have just been my bottle. I like the coverage, and it could have been a 1 coater but I didn't feel that it was even enough in all spots. I then added Essie As Gold As It Gets to the ring finger, and Zoya Maise to the rest of the nails. This is the result. Thoughts? Feelings? Concerns?

This was such a subtle effect and I think I will try it again with a different combination. I don't think these glitters were showcased well with Kim-parison. I was so disappointed with the color that I put it in the bag to swap with the ladies from Beauty Bloggers of Central Florida.

Zoya Alegra

The first polish from Zoya I decided to try from my haul was Alegra. It's practically a dupe of Sarah, but I didn't care I had to have them both :).Alegra is a bright fushia with pink undertones. I was so frustrated with how this color photographs. I tried my hardest to capture the dimension but it didn't come out very well. So here she is:

Above is Alegra in full on natural light, below is natural light too but you can see the difference. My camera did not like this color :(

Below is Alegra in the shade

Below is in artificial light. This is 2 coats and you can see there is VNL (visible nail line). I didn't add a third coat because I knew i was going to add to this

I wanted to try a look that I have seen and just thought was so classy. I have no idea what the official term for it is, but basically all you do is start the polish from far below the cuticle line. Let me know if there is a term for this so I can be more accurate in my description the next time I try this:

I absolutely love this look the same way I love the gradient glitter look! Anything that is simple and easy to do with major impact is my kind of artwork.

I couldn't leave it alone so I added a Stripe with Milani Black Sketch.

Thoughts?  Feelings? Concerns?

Zoya Haul!

I was in need of Zoya nail polish. Yes I said need. I only had 3 Zoya colors and I felt as though my collection was lacking. First of all I love the company, their public relations, their formula, and their selection. So this is not just a "I have to have it just because", it's "I NEED this in my collection"!! I was so excited when Ulta had the buy 2 get 1 sale so I stocked up and also used my Ulta reward points to get 9 polishes for only $41! So that's less than $5 a bottle!! Whoo Hoo! So here is my haul:

From left to right: Julieanne, Alegra, Edyta, Maisie, Nidhi, Stacy, Kelly, Sarah, Yasmeen

I will be swatching these in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for future posts.
