Loreal Gradient

Loreal Gradient, Your Nail Polish Therapist has been hauling polishes for weeks now but had no time to blog. Work, school and volunteering have be so busy, I have no energy to sit in front of a computer more than I already have to with work and school. So until my school load slows down I've decided to blog once a month and do about 3-4 posts. I appreciate all of you following me and hope you've enjoyed my posts thus far.
This post features my first gradient. No I'm not on the cutting edge and there have been many gradients done but this girl didn't have the right sponge and wanted to make sure it was great before posting. So for this manicure I used Loreal The Queen's Ambition and Sparklicous. These are two beautiful glitters that compliment each other well. For the base of the nail I used Essie True Love. Walgreens was having a sale on Loreal a few weeks ago so I picked up a few beauties. I have to say that I'm impressed with the formula on both of these and the amount of even coverage it provided.

Autumn Stripes

Autumn Stripes, I love stripes but I don't have the patience it takes to make them perfectly straight like I prefer so I don't do them often. That is until I got my manicure tape from China. It took about 2 weeks and I got about 10 rolls for just a couple of dollars and no shipping. Pretty good deal if you ask me. So I chose to use Essie True Love again for the base and the following colors: OPI Chopsticking to My Story, China Glaze Trendsetter, Orly Sapphire Silk, and OPI Louvre me Louvre me Not. I wore this manicure for a whole week and that's along time for me lol. I almost added a black stripe over the top of all the stripes to give a framed looked but decided against it. I figured less is more.

Fall Inspired Dots

Fall Inspired Dots , My husband was saying to me: Sweetie you have so many fall colors you haven't used, why don't you wear more Fall colors in the Fall? So I dug deep for a couple old Fall colors I had never worn and came up with American Apparel McArther Park and Risk (with no name).
McArthur Park is like a perfect avocado color and the formula is so awesome. American Apparel makes great creme opaque colors that go on with 2 easy coats, and this was no exception. I could have been fine with 1 coat but I wanted to be sure I didn't have any bald spots. I added dots with Essie Structured, China Glaze Kalahari Kiss and Risk (with no name) for a little pizzazz. I'm happy with how the accent name came out but not so much with the other nails. You'll notice tip wear on the other nails and that's because the formula of Risk (with no name) was so thin. It reminds me of Essie nail polish, and even with two coats I barely was able to cover the way I wanted. I left it that way because I was tired when I did my nails that day and I liked the color I have since given Risk (with no name) away to a coworker who loved it. Here it is. Thoughts? Feelings? Concerns?

Essie School of Hard Rocks OPI The Living Daylights

Essie School of Hard Rocks OPI The Living Daylights, I started hauling more glitter because I felt like my collection was lacking in that area. So I picked up a few polishes from the new OPI Skyfall 007 collection. I was trying to think of a way to use this glitter that has not already been done. Many people just put it over one of the other colors in the collection, or bejeweled one nail or used it in a gradient. So i figured I would use OPI The Living Daylights as a french tip color instead. I have had Essie School of Hard Rocks for some time now and never used it before. It's such a beautiful color in it's dusty periwinkle blue/gray. The formula was thin but consistent and opaque enough in 2 coats. OPI The Living Day Lights is a multicolored hexagon shaped glitter in a clear base. Although a little thick, it was very easy to spread and I achieved the look I was going for with little effort.

Whimise I Love NY and Essie Power Clutch

Whimise I Love NY and Essie Power Clutch, Here is another Whimsie and this one is I <3 NY. This was a no brainer for me to get because even though I'm from NJ and not NY I have always loved this city and have so many special memories with my husband and family members spending time there. This is a polish that mimics the iconic I <3 NY t-shirts and mugs that are all over the city. Clear base with black and white small hexes, and red hearts (of course). This was very easy to apply and in each removal of the brush I got at least 2 hearts which was nice because I didn't have to go fishing for them. I did 2 accent nails of I <3 NY over Essie's Power Clutch. That polish was thin (like most Essie polishes) and with a heavy hand I had full opaque coverage in 2 coats. Here you will see the shiny and the matte version. I preferred the matte as it reminded me of concrete in the city.

Essie and China Glaze

I have been spending a ridiculous amount of money on polish in the last few months. I haven't even added it up because to be honest I don't want to know how much I spend and it will spoil the love I have for all my beautiful bottles of magic. I could be addicted to worse I suppose, and I'm not going into debt over it so I feel I'm safe.

So on one of my many polish hauls I got China Glaze Ray-Diant from the Prisms collection and Essie Braziliant. While creating a combo for this manicure I was thinking to do something that was bright and glitzy. Essie Braziliant reminds me of Brazilian people (warm, fun, inviting, lively, fun) and the spirit of the country itself (although I've never been but know from Brazilian friends of mine). The base is a tangerine orange and there is a pink iridescent which is my favorite part. China Glaze's Ray-Diant from the Prisms collection is glitz in a bottle, It has a silver base, goes on in 1 coat smooth and even. I can identify 2 different shapes of glitter.The smaller sized glitter are silver in color and the rest are varied pink, blue, orange, and green. These stand out to give the polish a prism effect. I love both of these together and they captured the look I was going for. Thoughts? Feelings? Concerns?

Nicole Kim-parison

I wore this manicure last week and forgot to post it because honestly I wasn't too thrilled with it. I picked up Nicole Kim-parison from Ulta for $3.99 because I didn't have an off white color and was looking to do a light manicure as a change from my bold color schemes. This color was ok to apply, a little on the thick side, but it could have just been my bottle. I like the coverage, and it could have been a 1 coater but I didn't feel that it was even enough in all spots. I then added Essie As Gold As It Gets to the ring finger, and Zoya Maise to the rest of the nails. This is the result. Thoughts? Feelings? Concerns?

This was such a subtle effect and I think I will try it again with a different combination. I don't think these glitters were showcased well with Kim-parison. I was so disappointed with the color that I put it in the bag to swap with the ladies from Beauty Bloggers of Central Florida.

Easter Mani

I didn't do anything special on Easter except go out to eat after work. We had all you can eat crabs at Cityfish in downtown Orlando. The night before I stayed up late coming up with an Easter mani and pedi combo. Sorry to say that I didn't take pics of my toes but here is my simple rendition of a spring French Manicure.

I used the colors below, which came out so crappy in the picture. I seriously need a new camera.

Revlon Sunshine Sparkle, Essie Mint Candy Apple, Milani White on the Spot, Color Club with no color label :(, Essie Lilacism, Revlon Blue Lagoon.

Gradually Gray

Sometimes I have trouble coming up with a concept and I ask my husband for suggestions. He sees all my manis, and he has his own preferences as well. So this time he said "paint your nails gray, you haven't done that in a while". So I looked through my grays and taupes that were slightly similar and thought wow, these looks like a gray rainbow. So I tried with the grays that I have to create a gradient effect. Its a good way to compare colors, but it's also a subtle effect on an otherwise bland manicure. I call it Gradually Gray because I started with taupes and then went into grays. Thoughts? Feelings? Concerns?

From thumb to pinky: Ulta "Taupe on a Rope", Ulta "Fine Pruned", Revlon "Stormy", Essie "Chinchilly, Ulta "Concrete Evidence.

Since this mani, I have acquired two more grays that I would like to add in place of the 2 taupes. Part II to follow on another post.
