Fall Inspired Dots

Fall Inspired Dots

Fall Inspired Dots , My husband was saying to me: Sweetie you have so many fall colors you haven't used, why don't you wear more Fall colors in the Fall? So I dug deep for a couple old Fall colors I had never worn and came up with American Apparel McArther Park and Risk (with no name).
McArthur Park is like a perfect avocado color and the formula is so awesome. American Apparel makes great creme opaque colors that go on with 2 easy coats, and this was no exception. I could have been fine with 1 coat but I wanted to be sure I didn't have any bald spots. I added dots with Essie Structured, China Glaze Kalahari Kiss and Risk (with no name) for a little pizzazz. I'm happy with how the accent name came out but not so much with the other nails. You'll notice tip wear on the other nails and that's because the formula of Risk (with no name) was so thin. It reminds me of Essie nail polish, and even with two coats I barely was able to cover the way I wanted. I left it that way because I was tired when I did my nails that day and I liked the color I have since given Risk (with no name) away to a coworker who loved it. Here it is. Thoughts? Feelings? Concerns?

Nail Polish Vintage yet Modern

Nail Polish Vintage yet Modern

Nail Polish Vintage yet Modern , This year my husband and I decorated the house in lights, and put up some fuss in the house in the way of decorations. Unfortunately we didn't get to partake in so many Christmas parties as we'd hoped. Our neighbors invited us over for a viewing in their backyard of It's a Wonderful Life. It was our first time going there for a social event and I wanted to make a good impression. So I set out to make a vintage yet modern Christmas tree art. I used Julep: Glen for most of the nails and then Cynthia Crowley for the accent nails. Both of these colors are absolutely glorious. The formula was great and dried super fast. My only complaint was that the Cynthia Crowley (green color with no name) was HORRIBLE to take off. Stained my nails something awful. The other colors I used on the tree and snow were: American Apparel Galaxy, OPI Golden Eye, Milani Black Sketch, Revlon Calla Lily. The shape of the tree was modern to me and the overall look with the OPI Golden Eye added a vintage touch. What are your thoughts? Feelings? Concerns?

Nail Polish Winter Wonderland

Nail Polish Winter Wonderland

Nail Polish Winter Wonderland, I love glitter. I've grown to love it more that I have discovered some wonderful Indie lines and the power of white felt and acetone. Now it's not such a chore to take off so I'm not intimidated to use it in most of my manicures. For this manicure I wanted to try the swoop design for just  touch of glitter. The blue I chose was from American Apparel American Denim and it's a really creamy sky blue. The glitter was from the OPI Ballet collection called Pirouette My Whistle. This glitter is so soft and subtle; when paired with a light color it adds the right amount of bling without taking away from the color. I think I will try this design with a different color combination that is more bold to see the effect. I enjoyed the glitter side and non-glitter side of the nail as well. It's a great way to enjoy two colors at the same time. What are your thoughts? Feelings? Concerns?

Happy Anniversary NPT

Happy Anniversary NPT

Happy Anniversary NPT, A year ago today I began this blog and never knew how much I would enjoy it until now. Being a blogger has allowed me so much creative freedom and connections in the blogger world that I am so grateful for. I can't think of another hobby that has brought me so much excitement, joy, and peace all at once. Thank you to my followers and family who continue to compliment my work and encourage me to do more. I look forward to more years as a Nail Polish Therapist to you all.

This post is one that reflects my patience with my nails. I used manicure tape and created designs in no particular fashion on each nail. My goals was to create an 80's inspired retro look with spring colors. I used American Apparel Office, Summer Peach and Urban Outfitters Virgin. The only thing I dislike about this manicure is that it took me so long and in some parts the lines were not as clean as I would like. I'm such a perfectionist. Overall I'm happy with the look and will be putting my tape to use more often. Thoughts? Feelings? Concerns?

Nail Polish Priti NYC Dusty Miller

Nail Polish Priti NYC Dusty Miller

Nail Polish Priti NYC Dusty Miller , The first blog sale I took advantage of was from Refined and Polished and among the beauties I got from Lakeisha was Priti NYC Dusty Miller. I have an affinity for mint green and anything with a gold shimmer. This polish had both of those and I don't own any Priti NYC so this is a no brainer it was a must have! Unfortunately the gold shimmer does not show through a much as I would like. The formula was a tad thick but with careful application it can be a 1 coater. I decided to add the braid as a design to bring in some variety. I used American Apparel Summer Peach and Butter to complete the look. I'm happy with how the braid turned out and wish I had the patience to do it with all my nails. Thoughts? Feelings? Concerns?

HM Check Me Out and American Apparel Constellation

Last weekend I went to celebrate my 2nd anniversary with Mr. NPT and on the way home he insisted we go shopping. I being not one to argue happily obliged. I was looking for white shorts and capris and could not find a pair that I liked, so I ended up with....you guessed it! More nail polish. I picked up American Apparel Constellation, Meteor Shower, Galaxy and Makeup. I wanted to wear something really girly so I chose this bubble gum pink by H&M called Check Me Out. The glitter was so hard to apply, I literally had to glob it on and then go back and fill in empty spots. I added 2 coats of Seche Vete topcoat to make the glitter lay flat. Overall I really liked this look. It reminded me of something from the 80's. Thoughts? Feelings? Concerns?

I have no idea what was wrong with the lighting in the picture above, but the picture below is more true to form. The polish has a great formula, very easy to control and perfect creme finish.

Please disregard my shiny cuticles I added coconut oil because they were ubber dry!

American Apparel Overhaul!!

One of my truly favorite polish lines is by the clothing store American Apparel. They have the cutest square bottles filled with edgy colors, wonderful formula and great thick even brushes. Need I say more? So I went to an American Apparel this weekend in search of something new and great to add to my collection and to my surprise they had a sale for discontinued polishes that were $1 and $3!!!! Can you say this girl was HAPPY! So here is what I got:

From Left to Right: Mount Royal, Mac Arthur Park, Manila (much more yellow in person) and Factory Grey

From Left to Right: Dynasty, Army Jacket, Lopez Canyon (repurchase), and Cameo Blue

Rouge and Mouse

Do any of my lovely readers have these already and if so which one is your favorite?

Nati's Speckled Egg

I cannot say enough about American Apparel colors. The first two I bought were Peacock featured here and the Lopez Canyon. Before American Apparel my collection consisted of lots of metallics, frosts, glittery, flat toned polishes. Then I found my soul with these colors. They speak to my style and how I would describe myself in colors. For whatever mood I'm in I can match it to an AA color. So here is my version of a speckled egg. My little cousin said that's what the ring finger looked like so I felt it appropriate to name this mani after her. Thoughts? Feelings? Concerns?

Crayola Bonanza

I have so many colors that I love so I decided to start using them together. These colors are all inspired by Crayola Crayons. For added effect I added some glitter, because of course glitter makes everything better. Thoughts? Feelings? Concerns?

From pinky to thumb Revlon "Right Said Red", China Glaze "Westside Warrior", American Apparel "Lopez Canyon", China Glaze "First Mate", HM "Wanna Pepperoni". Confetti "Tazmanian Devil" as glitter on top.

American Apparel Stripes

This is my first attempt at stripes using an actual striper. I was going for the wall paper post that Cute Polish on YouTube did. My version was a lot more bold and contrived if you ask me. I have to get used to using the striper and letting the brush do the work. I used all American Apparel colors and they are definitely my favorite kind of polish. The formulation is great: creamy, rich, consistent, and the bottle is big and the brush is nice and long. So here is the result:

The base color is Butter, then from L to R: Peacock, Lopez Canyon, Port. Next time I will space the stripes out more and let the base color show in between. I was so focused on getting them completely straight that I ended up making them touch. Thoughts? Feelings? Concerns?
