Autumn Stripes

Autumn Stripes, I love stripes but I don't have the patience it takes to make them perfectly straight like I prefer so I don't do them often. That is until I got my manicure tape from China. It took about 2 weeks and I got about 10 rolls for just a couple of dollars and no shipping. Pretty good deal if you ask me. So I chose to use Essie True Love again for the base and the following colors: OPI Chopsticking to My Story, China Glaze Trendsetter, Orly Sapphire Silk, and OPI Louvre me Louvre me Not. I wore this manicure for a whole week and that's along time for me lol. I almost added a black stripe over the top of all the stripes to give a framed looked but decided against it. I figured less is more.

Thoughts? Feelings? Concerns?

Fall Inspired Dots

Fall Inspired Dots , My husband was saying to me: Sweetie you have so many fall colors you haven't used, why don't you wear more Fall colors in the Fall? So I dug deep for a couple old Fall colors I had never worn and came up with American Apparel McArther Park and Risk (with no name).
McArthur Park is like a perfect avocado color and the formula is so awesome. American Apparel makes great creme opaque colors that go on with 2 easy coats, and this was no exception. I could have been fine with 1 coat but I wanted to be sure I didn't have any bald spots. I added dots with Essie Structured, China Glaze Kalahari Kiss and Risk (with no name) for a little pizzazz. I'm happy with how the accent name came out but not so much with the other nails. You'll notice tip wear on the other nails and that's because the formula of Risk (with no name) was so thin. It reminds me of Essie nail polish, and even with two coats I barely was able to cover the way I wanted. I left it that way because I was tired when I did my nails that day and I liked the color I have since given Risk (with no name) away to a coworker who loved it. Here it is. Thoughts? Feelings? Concerns?

China Glaze Safari Colors

I have loved all the creative braids I see on Pintrest and Tumblr and then I noticed some of the other nail bloggers making their own version on their nails and I thought how creative!! Leave it to us nail polish bloggers and connoisseurs to come up with something like that. So I tried it free hand on just the ring finger of each hand. It was pretty time consuming keeping a steady hand, gauging how far down to go and which color to use next on which side. It was fun and I really like the results. I only bought 4 colors from the China Glaze Safari Collection, so I guess you can say I have a partial collection. I have never been one to buy every single color of a particular line because I don't fall in love with all the colors and most times I have other colors that come pretty close to being a dup. Soooo I picked Jungle Queen, Exotic Encounters, Desert Sun and Kahlahari Kiss. Thoughts? Feelings? Concerns?

The picture above features the Exotic Encounters bottle and if you notice in the bottle it's more teal green than on the nail. Against the other colors on the nail it looks like a forest green. That along with the consistency of this color made this one a little bit of a disappointment. I still like the color.

The bottle above is Jungle Queen. This is a gorgeous dusty purple plum with purple shimmer. Great for the Fall, and the formula was wonderfully creamy. A true 1 coater.

The bottle above features Desert Sun. It's a perfect name for this color. The formula was consistent but not as creamy as Jungle Queen.

China Glaze Mistletoe Me!

After the fiasco with the Nail Rock appliques I didn't want to leave my nails naked so I gave my husband 5 colors to choose from that were in my Summer drawer of the helmer and this is what he picked: China Glaze Mistletoe Me!

This polish is definitely a 1 coater. I put 2 coats because I was enjoying the application so much. It's like a duo, frosted neon. When I finished applying my husband said: "Wow! I didn't know it was going to be so electric!" I love it!!

Look how gorgeous this color is in natural light. It totally lifted my spirits.

What a disappointment....

I've been trying to get through my Helmer drawer of Summer colors. I have so many that I've never used and despite the fact that my Autumn colors are calling me and the glitter drawer has been distracting, I'm committed to swatching the rest of the Summer drawer by the end of August.

Unfortunately today's post will feature two colors that I was not impressed with. The formula in both left plenty to be desired. The first is Pure Ice Twinkle:

After three coats of this thin polish you can still see the nail line. This color is not even good enough to do a jelly sandwich with because it doesn't spread evenly. I fell in love with this peach gold shimmer in a bottle, but the application was a chore.

The second color is a purple/fuchsia neon with fuchsia and blue glitter. Here is China Glaze's Flying Dragon (neon)

Maybe I should have put this over a white base, I don't know if that would have helped this CRAPPY formula. I shook the bottle I don't know how many times throughout the application and each time the top of the bottle would show signs of separation. The glitter sunk to the bottle and didn't surface when I polished.The polish didn't lay evenly as I polish, even though I tried to minimize my strokes. As you can see my tips were wearing after just 1 day. It's more like a grape color versus a neon. I will be putting this in my giveaway pile, so disappointed.

Essie and China Glaze

I have been spending a ridiculous amount of money on polish in the last few months. I haven't even added it up because to be honest I don't want to know how much I spend and it will spoil the love I have for all my beautiful bottles of magic. I could be addicted to worse I suppose, and I'm not going into debt over it so I feel I'm safe.

So on one of my many polish hauls I got China Glaze Ray-Diant from the Prisms collection and Essie Braziliant. While creating a combo for this manicure I was thinking to do something that was bright and glitzy. Essie Braziliant reminds me of Brazilian people (warm, fun, inviting, lively, fun) and the spirit of the country itself (although I've never been but know from Brazilian friends of mine). The base is a tangerine orange and there is a pink iridescent which is my favorite part. China Glaze's Ray-Diant from the Prisms collection is glitz in a bottle, It has a silver base, goes on in 1 coat smooth and even. I can identify 2 different shapes of glitter.The smaller sized glitter are silver in color and the rest are varied pink, blue, orange, and green. These stand out to give the polish a prism effect. I love both of these together and they captured the look I was going for. Thoughts? Feelings? Concerns?

She Cracks Me Up!

I was getting my hair done months ago and the receptionist at the salon had the cutest mani despite the fact they were chipping I loved the color combo. She had a bone color as the base and then she had a mint green crackle which reminded me of China Glaze's For Audrey. So last week while looking for a edgy Spring combo I came upon my "For Audrey" (which I hadn't tried out yet) and the Cracked Concrete by China Glaze. Firstly I love the formulation of For Audrey and many say it is a dup of Ulta's "Mint Condition". They would be correct except for the fact of how BEAUTIFUL "For Audrey" goes on. Definitely one of my favorites now. On the ring finger I inverted the colors and used Pure Ice's "Kiss me There" and China Glaze "Crushed Candy" for the crackle. Then I mattified the whole look with Hard Candy's mattifying topcoat. I called this mani She Cracks Me Up as a play on "For Audrey" and the crackle. Thoughts? Feelings? Concerns?

What a compliment!

Another quick way I like to spice up my mani is by putting complimentary colors together. In the same way I did in the Modern Gold Diggers mani. Thoughts? Feelings? Concerns?

Close to My Heart

There are some colors that truly touch my spirit as corny as that sounds. These colors make me feel so gorgeous, and applying them only enhances my initial love for them in the bottle. They are definitely Close to My Heart. Thoughts? Feelings? Concerns?

Essence "Date with the Night" is one of my all time favs. This is $.99 of pure joy

Nina Ultra Pro "Mossy Britches" is the prettiest green I own. It combines emerald. peridot, with gold undertones. Gorgeous!

OPI "Designer De Better" the first swipe of the brush I literally gasped in awe. It's like liquid platinum with flecks of gold. Amazing!

Ulta "Dance Teal Dawn". This is so deep and true to it's name. Literally the color dances in the light and switches from blue to green and back again. Great teal.

Orly "Ingenue" reminds me of OPI "Its My Year" It goes from fuchsia to the golden tan sparkle you see below. Another one that dances in the light.

China Glaze "First Mate" is a great blue that reminds me of my favorite jeans. Its the only blue that in my mind feels like a neutral color that I can wear with anything.

China Glaze "Unplugged". I was looking for a metallic chocolate brown and I found it in this color. I have a love of earth tones and metallics and this color combines both.

SH Diamond Collection "Save the Date" This is my absolute favorite color I have EVER worn. Not ever seen, but I have to say when I picked this up I didn't think I would love this so much. Lets' just put it this way: if the house was burning down I'm coming for this bottle.

Crayola Bonanza

I have so many colors that I love so I decided to start using them together. These colors are all inspired by Crayola Crayons. For added effect I added some glitter, because of course glitter makes everything better. Thoughts? Feelings? Concerns?
