OPI Suzi Says Da! and Pure Ice Meet Me In Monaco

OPI Suzi Says Da! and Pure Ice Meet Me In Monaco

OPI Suzi Says Da! and Pure Ice Meet Me In Monaco, Get ready for Decembers posts! I've got a few gems coming up that I think you're really going to like. For those of you who know me personally, you know that I have been doing some serious hauling of nail polish in the last couple of months So much so that I had to put MYSELF on restriction and made a vow not to buy another single bottle of polish until the New Year. That's not that long, but during the holiday season with all the sales going on...that's a big deal for this nail polish addict. Anywho! For the rest of the month you will see posts on some of the new polishes I've acquired and I hope you enjoy them as much as I have.
First up is OPI Suzi Says Da! (old) and Pure Ice Meet Me in Monaco (new). I was disappointed in Suzi Says Da! because it's so dark it looks black in most lighting but should be a dark chocolate. Pure Ice Meet Me in Monaco was great though. I scored with this one and only $1.99 at my local Walmart. It has multi sized cooper glitter in a black jelly, and is easily opaque in 2 coats. The glitter was not too chunky and spread evenly with ease. Thoughts? Feelings? Concerns?

Nail Polish Christmas Triple French

Nail Polish Christmas Triple French

Nail Polish Christmas Triple French, Merry Belated Christmas! Your Nail Polish Therapist has been hard at work and doing some festive manicures. The collection is expanding and thanks to my wonderful husband I have another Helmer to grow into. He's so thoughtful and knows just what I need. It's probably my favorite gift of all the ones I received. This first manicure I created for my love of the french. I don't do it as much as I used to and figured it would be a good time to come up with a Christmas version of this classic nail design. The base color is Love & Beauty Vanilla, the gold stripe is LA Colors Art Deco 24K Glitter, then Pure Ice: All Nighter and the last stripe is Pure Ice: Femme Fatale (from the suede collection). I used these colors because together they looked vintage to me like an old Christmas ornament. I was pretty happy with how neat it came out. What do are your thoughts? Feelings? Concerns?

Nail Polish For my Baby

Nail Polish For my Baby

Nail Polish For my Baby , As I mentioned before I'm 6 months pregnant and I'm having a baby boy! His name will be Sterling which means "excellent" and I couldn't be more happy! This design was inspired by my pregnancy. I did this design so long ago that I can't remember the shade of blue that used. lol! Talk about pregnancy brain! So I used Pure Ice Nude Beach and Loreal Shear Sparkle along with Loreal Now You See Me. I liked how this came out and I will try it again with another color combination. Thoughts? Feelings? Concerns?

What a disappointment....

I've been trying to get through my Helmer drawer of Summer colors. I have so many that I've never used and despite the fact that my Autumn colors are calling me and the glitter drawer has been distracting, I'm committed to swatching the rest of the Summer drawer by the end of August.

Unfortunately today's post will feature two colors that I was not impressed with. The formula in both left plenty to be desired. The first is Pure Ice Twinkle:

After three coats of this thin polish you can still see the nail line. This color is not even good enough to do a jelly sandwich with because it doesn't spread evenly. I fell in love with this peach gold shimmer in a bottle, but the application was a chore.

The second color is a purple/fuchsia neon with fuchsia and blue glitter. Here is China Glaze's Flying Dragon (neon)

Maybe I should have put this over a white base, I don't know if that would have helped this CRAPPY formula. I shook the bottle I don't know how many times throughout the application and each time the top of the bottle would show signs of separation. The glitter sunk to the bottle and didn't surface when I polished. The polish didn't lay evenly as I polish, even though I tried to minimize my strokes. As you can see my tips were wearing after just 1 day. It's more like a grape color versus a neon. I will be putting this in my giveaway pile, so disappointed.

OPI Mod About You and Pure Ice Outrageous

I need to step up my stamping skills. I have some Bundle Monster plates that I purchased on Amazon but I'm not too thrilled with them... Well I shouldn't say that. I just don't think they have too many patterns that are so exciting. So i did this manicure and added subtle glitter dots which barely showed up. Over all I'm not too thrilled with how it turned out. Next time I'll pick a different design. Thoughts? Feelings?  Concerns?

OPI Mod About You (base color) was very chalky although I love this shade of pink, it was not easy to apply and Pure Ice: Outrageous is a great stamping color with a foil/frosty look. I like the colors together, but I don't like how the overall design came out. Suggestions for improvements are welcome.

She Cracks Me Up!

I was getting my hair done months ago and the receptionist at the salon had the cutest mani despite the fact they were chipping I loved the color combo. She had a bone color as the base and then she had a mint green crackle which reminded me of China Glaze's For Audrey. So last week while looking for a edgy Spring combo I came upon my "For Audrey" (which I hadn't tried out yet) and the Cracked Concrete by China Glaze. Firstly I love the formulation of For Audrey and many say it is a dup of Ulta's "Mint Condition". They would be correct except for the fact of how BEAUTIFUL "For Audrey" goes on. Definitely one of my favorites now. On the ring finger I inverted the colors and used Pure Ice's "Kiss me There" and China Glaze "Crushed Candy" for the crackle. Then I mattified the whole look with Hard Candy's mattifying topcoat. I called this mani She Cracks Me Up as a play on "For Audrey" and the crackle. Thoughts? Feelings? Concerns?

With flash above without below to showcase the matte effect. I need to learn how to work my camera better. Sorry for the haze.

Metal-bling French

For the longest time I couldn't do a freehand french manicure with the deep curve that I prefer. It always seemed to come out straight across, some edges wider than others, or too curved with a slight V in the middle. When I started wearing my nails in the oval shape it helped me make the exact type of french tip that I prefer which I think looks much more natural. I call this Metal-bling French because of the silver and gold parring. Thoughts? Feelings? Concerns?

Ulta "Lotsa Luxe" for base and Pure Ice "Silver Mercedes" on the tips

Christmas 2011 Mani

Once I got my dotting tools I was anxious to put them to use. I came up with a simple design that I thought was going to have the cutest effect. I realized that just like the striper I need to allow the tool to do the work. I pushed the dotting tool too far into the polish when I was trying to add the green, so I then had to drag the polish around the moon to create one fluid line. I still like how it came out. Thoughts? Feelings? Concerns?

Colors I used where OPI Designer De Better (half moon) Rimmel Rags to Riches (stripe) Pure Ice All Nighter (red body)
